On November 8, 2023, the Vietnam Urban Sustainable Development Forum 2023, organized by the Department of Urban Development (Ministry of Construction), took place, marking the 20th anniversary of the forum’s establishment and development.

Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi delivered the opening speech at the Vietnam Sustainable Urban Development Forum 2023.
In his speech at the forum, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi emphasized the directions for cooperation to promote urban development in Vietnam. He urged local urban authorities to proactively allocate resources, both material and human, for urban development in their areas, focusing on upgrading and improving the quality of cities alongside the urbanization process. He encouraged local urban strengths and dynamics to meet the demands of growth and socio-economic development.
The Minister highlighted that, for urban development management, relevant agencies should proactively enhance their expertise and improve their capacity for cooperation and coordination in the implementation of urban development management tasks, especially key urban development programs and projects. He also stressed that for organizations and local communities, there is a need to continue raising awareness about the role and responsibility of the community in urban development and to actively propose, consult, and contribute to relevant authorities at both local and central levels.
